Which washing powder should you choose - Color or Universal?

Choosing between Color and Universal may seem simple, but in practice many people use one product for almost every load. In fact, the two variants are intended for slightly different applications.

Color washing powder - when is it worth choosing?

Washing powders labelled Color are primarily intended for regular washing of coloured fabrics. Their role is to remove dirt effectively while limiting unnecessary impact on colour intensity.

They are a good choice for everyday clothes such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, trousers, bed linen or coloured towels.

In practice, Color is worth using when a load consists mainly of red, blue, green, black or other strongly coloured items.

Choosing the right detergent alone will not protect colours in every situation. Temperature, sorting and the garment manufacturer’s care instructions also matter.

How is Universal different?

Universal is intended for a broad range of everyday laundry.

Depending on the formula, universal powders may contain ingredients that support the appearance of light and white fabrics. For very dark or intensely coloured clothing, Color is therefore usually the better option for regular use.

Universal is particularly suitable for:

  • white and light-coloured fabrics,
  • towels and bed linen,
  • mixed everyday laundry,
  • situations where one basic detergent is needed for a wide range of uses.

Can Color be used for white laundry?

Technically, many light-coloured items can be washed with Color. However, if maintaining the appearance of white fabrics is the main goal, a product intended for that purpose or a Universal powder used according to its instructions is usually the better choice.

What should you choose for everyday laundry?
